The Passing of a True Gentleman of the Hash
If there ever was a true gentleman of the hash it had to be Parivalan. He could always be counted upon to help, be it setting runs, driving the drinks van or even arranging food and many a time he did this by putting aside his own personal work. The word ‘no’ was never in his vocabulary and he gave his time and effort freely, never asking for anything in return – such was the nature of this truly remarkable hashman. His easy going ways plus his caring demeanor endeared him to many and all who knew him are richer for this.
Pari, as we in the hash called him, provided us with many tales. Who can forget how he rammed the drinks van into STP’s rambutan tree, with Toluk next to him screaming his balls off! This was followed a few weeks later when he scrapped the van against a metal railing while reversing the vehicle. Then there were the times when he crashed into dogs, cows and ended up battered and bruised. He also sent Charlie, who was riding pillion, tumbling into the mining sand when he answered his mobile and could not control his bike with one hand.
Pari was a moderate drinker but there were occasions when he would go over his limit, and that was when he would present his dance – a real classic. He would sort of hop on his “1 ½” legs while at the same time clapping his hands behind his ears – a spectacle guaranteed to bring laughs.
Pari left us on 2nd December, a few months after his 50th birthday. He will definitely be missed but never forgotten. We here, wait the day when we will be reunited again and then we will have a party to rock the heavens. Till then, take care dear friend and hash brother.

Yes, Pari was a chum. I vividly remember the 1st time I met him during one of our Traingular Runs in Kampar. He amazed me with his speed & capacity during the boat race despite his small frame. May he continues his hashing bashing with Mad Max, Lau Hieow & Co in Hash House Heaven. On-On
